Gyan Doensen left without an EMX125 ride

The reigning 85cc Junior World Champion and EMX85 runner up, Gyan Doensen has been preparing for his rookie season in the EMX125 series but is now left without a ride for the 2023 season.

The young Dutch talent had a deal with the Husqvarna-SKS Racing team who he won his 85cc title with this year but they can’t fulfil the contract due to budget issues.

Now a free agent Doensen would a great signing for any team looking for an EMX125 rider as he’s very highly rated and should have a promising future.

Husqvarna-SKS Racing NL is an understanding in MX sport. Ever since the acquisition of the Husqvarna brand by KTM Motorsport AG in 2014, the team has been closely associated with the Husqvarna brand, with which it has achieved many successes. In 2020, the KNMV received a request for cooperation. This partnership was launched in 2021, a unique concept offering talented riders a total package to reach the top in MX sport.

2022 was a year for the team in which Gyan Doensen achieved a lot of successes with the highlight of the World Cup title 85cc Youth. Therefore, it is very wrong that the KNMV has recently announced that due to budgetary problems (caused by external factors) they could no longer comply with the financial agreements made and were forced to have the successful cooperation to be dissolved.

This announcement came very unexpected for the Husqvarna-SKS Racing team, partly because in consultation with the KNMV the plans for 2023 including driver’s choice were already ready. Gyan Doensen was one of the two selected drivers and would continue his progressive development in 2022 with the combination KNMV and the Husqvarna-SKS Racing team. The preparations for 2023 had already started and after the last race the transition was immediately made to the Husqvarna TC 125.
In short, it’s a disappointment for all parties that doesn’t fit the great season 2022.

The fact that this decision was made so late in the year makes it extra difficult to adjust the structure in time. In recent weeks, there has been a lot of work to try to achieve a restart, but it has not been possible to obtain sufficient financial comfort in such a short term to be able to complete a full season at European level.

Unfortunately, this will result in the end of the fruitful cooperation between the Husqvarna-SKS Racing team and Gyan Doensen. The Husqvarna-SKS Racing team will further discuss about the future implementation of activities in the MX sport. Fam. Doensen is looking for new opportunities to be able to have a well-deserved future in MX sports. All the Husqvarna-SKS Racing team members wish Gyan all the best in 2023″.
