After being taken exiting turn one in his MXGP debut, Jago Geerts then crashed again after hitting a kicker off a jump ending his MXGP debut race before it really began suffering a broken collarbone and dislocated elbow.
The luckless Geerts stated:
What a start of my MXGP career.đ„
Yesterday I was transferred from the track to the Dr Oscar Arraiz hospital in Villa La Angostura.
My left elbow was dislocated and a doctor put it back into the right place. A scan showed a fracture of my elbow and my collarbone.
My surgeon in Belgium will decide whether surgery will be necessary. Now I have a plaster to support my elbow.
Tomorrow, Monday March 11 I will fly back to Belgium to consult my surgeon.đ
