Gajser, Cairoli, Paulin British MXGP podium quotes

Cairoli: Yes, it was a great weekend, this track for sure was fun and one that I really like. Today was very difficult to push from the beginning, I had a small problem during the week, I couldn’t really push from my right shoulder and my neck, I immediately got arm pump after three or four laps, I had to really be careful. On this track if you are a little bit tight you are going to crash because the track is very tricky with strange ruts and kickers .

I was careful and in the end it pays off, so I am really happy about this weekend hopefully I can be better for next week in the sand because there you need to work a lot on the shoulder and on the back, hopefully there I can be 100% there.

The speed was okay especially in the last laps I could ride more smooth, but in the beginning of both races it was quite difficult to find the rhythm and be focused. Normally I’m a rider who is not really aggressive on the track and I couldn’t really hold on how I wanted. Overall I am really happy, the championship is going well and that is the goal.

Gajser: Today was a special day for me and I am really happy to finish the race on the podium. The first race I took a good start behind Tony and I managed to pass him quickly and pull a little gap, yeah then the mistake over there on the waves, big sideways and big crash! Thankfully I could continue but the bike was really damaged and I finished third which was okay.

Second I race I took again a good start and was behind Tony, I passed him and made a little gap but towards the end when we get into lappers I lost concentration a little bit because I had to switch the lines and Tony was coming back, so I am happy to win that second race and looking forward to next weekend.

We can see that we are on the right way and we will continue pushing hard with the team and everybody. I’m just happy that the pace and everything is finally back.

Paulin: It has been a great weekend as always when you are up on the box. The second moto there was some shadow and except for the start (of the race) I was riding a bit stiff but yeah definitely great, we improved a lot from Argentina and that was our goal. We keep working really hard and I’m really happy with the Monster Energy Wilvo team.

I feel really good physically, I have been changing a lot of things during the winter preparation so I am feeling great right now, so we will keep pushing to get the pace I should be and improve everything. We will put in a good week of work to be ready for Valkenswaard.
