Haiden Deegan says he will once, again do whatever it takes to win the East/West shootout, just like he did last weekend to beat his teammate, Cole Davies. Deegan also said there was $50,000 on the line for the win and he wants the money!
The always motivated 250 West champ admitted it’s nice to have the stress of a title off his shoulders but the will to win is still there: “It’s pretty nice having the championship wrapped up a round early, I literally have no stress at all. I am just going to have some fun and obviously I want to win because it is still 50Gs to win! My goal is to go win and do whatever it takes.
On his relationship with Cole this weekend Haiden said: “We are still friends, Cole knows this is not a teammate sport when you line up on the starting line, it’s 1 v 1 or 1 v 21! A teammate is someone you train with at the track, a teammate isn’t someone you race with, he is out there and he wants to win, he is not my friend either when he’s out there, he is trying to take win as well. Teammates…when you are out on the track it’s off, it’s time to race. Teammates are meant for the practice track or at home training.”
Asked about racing the East goes guys who have a title on the line, Deegan said he simply didn’t care! “No, I am going to race them the same, I am not going to be nice or anything to them. I don’t really care what they are in, I want to win. Last weekend, I ran it in on Cole a couple to times and let him know I was there and if you don’t get out of the way I am going to do what I do, I will do the same thing this weekend if I have too! I go into each race thinking I am the fastest and that’s been the same since I was a little kid, that’s how I race, the goal is just to win and figure out what is going on behind me.”
