Cornelius Tøndel departs Riley Racing after a strong season

There’s no doubt about it, Cornelius Tøndel was one of the most improved riders this year as after racing the EMX Open series in 2020 he decided to have another go at the EMX250 championship after singing with Riley Racing Yamaha.

The season went great for Tøndel as he finished sixth in the championship and also won a round of the series. For the 2022 season, Tøndel has confirmed he will be leaving the Riley Racing Yamaha team and it remains to be seen what his next move will be but we believe he’ll race the EMX250 series once again.

“And the 2021 season has come to an end. It’s been a long one and we’ve had our ups and downs, but I’m still grateful for having this opportunity. We got 6th overall this year, with two podiums, one win and a third. But with the issues I’ve had this season, getting two podiums and one of those on the top step is quite an accomplishment. We have now chosen to move on, and we are ending the cooperation with Riley Racing Yamaha. We have learned a lot on the way, and I want to thank the whole team for the 2021 season. I also want to thank my mechanic @jeesperluundberg for all the support over these two years of working together. I wish everyone the best of luck in the future, and thanks for having me”, Tøndel stated on social media.
