Chris Mills goes privateer – sets up his own race team

Chris Mills has been with a number of teams in the past and more recently with the JK Yamaha team but injuries over the past few years have made things difficult for the young Brit.

For the 2021 season, Mills has decided to go in a different direction which will see him start up his own race team – Mills Racing. He will switch to KTM machinery and so far is having a good off-season and is hoping to bring that speed into the season once it gets underway.

Mills will race the ONK Dutch Championship, the Dutch Masters of Motocross as well as selected EMX250 rounds in 2021.

“To be honest becoming a privateer is a lot of weight of my shoulders. I can ride which races I want and with my own choice of brands plus if you are not a top 5 guy in the EMX then you have to pay for a ride in a team. Then you need to perform and if you get injured somebody else rides your bike. Also, with COVID there’s uncertainty about the races. You could pay a lot of money and hardly get any races”, Mills told GateDrop.com.

“I’m very happy to have great personal sponsors and brands behind me because without them I wouldn’t be racing! My expectations will be top 3 in the ONK250, top 10 in the Dutch Masters and consistently in the points at the selected Europeans I will contest. Of course I have had a hard run at the EMX250 but I haven’t had a successful off-season yet and so far training is going great and I feel better on the KTM”, Mills concluded.

Mills would like to take this opportunity to thank all of his sponsors for the ongoing support:
