Cairoli to continue working at de Carli Racing

Antonio Cairoli has confirmed that he will continue working at the de Carli Racing team after deciding to retire from MXGP racing – although he didn’t rule out racing some wildcard rounds and just treating it as fun after many years as a professional.

The de Carli Racing team have ran KTM machinery for many years and have had a great relationship with Cairoli so it’s nice he’ll be able stay with the team to help guide the younger riders. The team are expected to make the switch to GasGas machinery for the 2022 season although that is still to be confirmed.

“For sure, I will be working with the team, giving my experience and advice to the younger riders. You never know, I would like to race somewhere next year. I don’t know what the plan will be, but of course no championship. I will just do it for fun”, Cairoli stated in the final press conference of the year.

Jorge Prado is expected to stay with the de Carli team to contest the MXGP World Championship with the promising Mattia Guadagnini contesting the MX2 World Championship.

The team have also been linked to the signing of talented German, Simon Längenfelder who will also contest the MX2 World Championship. The riders will be hoping to learn plenty from 9 times world champion and one of the greatest of all time, Antonio Cairoli who will also look forward to a new role in the GP paddock.
