Team Ireland are set to head to Ernee, France, this weekend for the 2026 Motocross des Nations, with the team’s primary objective being to qualify for the main races on Sunday.
Ireland will be represented by Lennox Dickinson, Jason Meara and Glenn McCormick, with the trio bringing a mixture of youth, experience and plenty of MXoN knowledge to the team.
Dickinson set for MXoN debut
Lennox Dickinson will make his Motocross of Nations debut at Ernee and has been selected to represent Ireland in the MXGP class.
The young Irish rider will get his first taste of the unique atmosphere that comes with racing at the Nations, with Ernee expected to provide one of the biggest crowds and most passionate atmospheres of the season.
Dickinson is looking forward to the opportunity and will be aiming to make the most of his first appearance for Team Ireland.
Lennox Dickinson (MXGP):
“I’m really happy to get the chance to represent Team Ireland at the MXoN this year. It’s my first Nations, so I’m really looking forward to it. Ernée is a special track with an unreal atmosphere, so it’ll be cool to experience that. I’ll just get over there, give it my all and see what we can do.”
Meara returns for fifth MXoN appearance
Jason Meara will provide plenty of experience to the Irish line-up as he prepares for his fifth appearance at the Motocross of Nations.
Meara has previously represented Ireland at Assen, Mantova, Ernee and Matterley Basin, making him the most experienced rider in this year’s Irish team.
The MotoCycle Yamaha rider missed last year’s event due to health issues but is now back on the team and will compete in the Open class.
After returning to racing, Meara admits that he is still looking for some of the intensity that comes with regular race competition, but he is determined to give everything for Ireland at Ernee.
Jason Meara (Open):
“It is good to be back on the Nations team after a year off. I am really looking forward to it. I think I’ve been riding not too bad – I am still missing a bit of early race intensity. I am probably being a bit hard on myself after missing a full season. I just know there’s a bit left in me. I’ll go to the Motocross des Nations and give it everything I have. We will see what we can do in Ernee”.
McCormick brings further Nations experience
In MX2, Glenn McCormick will make his third MXoN appearance, continuing to build his experience on the biggest stage in international motocross.
Interestingly, McCormick made his Motocross of Nations debut at Ernee back in 2023 before returning to the event at Ironman last year.
The Chamers KTM rider has proven to be a consistent and reliable choice for Team Ireland and will now look to help the team achieve its goal of qualifying for Sunday’s main races.
Glenn McCormick (MX2):
“Well, what to say about the MXoN at Ernee. I’m not sure it gets much better than that, what a place! This is my third time now doing the Nations and I’m super excited. My first two Nations I’ve had things go against me that was out of my hands so I’m looking forward to getting that chance to put my best foot forward and get stuck in”.
“I think as a team we are more than capable of getting to race on Sunday. We are in a great place with the experience of Martin being manager now, myself and Jason have been a few times now and with it being Lennox’s first time will bring some excitement to the team”.

Ireland targeting Sunday qualification
With Dickinson making his debut, Meara returning for his fifth appearance and McCormick lining up for his third, Team Ireland head to Ernee with a good blend of experience and fresh motivation.
The immediate target is clear: qualify for the main races on Sunday and give the Irish fans something to cheer about on the biggest stage of the motocross season.
With Ernee hosting the event, the atmosphere should be something special, and Team Ireland will now look to put in a strong showing when the action gets underway this weekend.
