Norway has revealed its trio for the 2026 Motocross of Nations at Ernée, with Kevin Horgmo, Pelle Gundersen and Cornelius Toendel.
Norway has announced its selection for the 2026 Motocross of Nations. For their return to Ernée, the Scandinavian team will rely on Kevin Horgmo in the MXGP class, Pelle Gundersen in MX2 and Cornelius Toendel in the Open class. It will be a new-look trio, with the three riders having never previously represented Norway together.
Kevin Horgmo, the obvious choice
Kevin Horgmo will be the most experienced rider in the selection. The Honda SR Motoblouz rider is preparing to compete in his sixth Motocross of Nations, having notably missed the 2025 edition at RedBud due to injury.
Currently 11th in the MXGP World Championship, Horgmo will therefore return to the Norwegian national team at Ernée with the aim of putting together a strong performance in the premier class.
Second selection for Pelle Gundersen
In MX2, Norway will put its faith in Pelle Gundersen, who is continuing the family tradition. Already selected for last year’s Motocross of Nations at RedBud for his debut at the event, Pelle will return to the national team for a second consecutive year.
Gundersen has taken another step forward this season by competing in the MX2 World Championship. Supported by Husqvarna Scandinavia, he has scored points on several occasions and currently sits 20th in the championship.
Cornelius Toendel returns from the USA
The Open class spot will go to Cornelius Toendel, who will now make the journey in the opposite direction. After leaving the World Championship to pursue an opportunity in the United States in 2026, the Norwegian ultimately secured a major opportunity across the Atlantic.
Toendel took over Chase Sexton’s Kawasaki USA ride in the outdoor series following the American’s knee injury. It has been a particularly valuable experience for the Norwegian, who will contest his fourth Motocross of Nations at Ernée.
At RedBud in 2025, Norway finished 18th with a different trio consisting of Fredriksen, Osterhagen and Gundersen. During the most recent Motocross of Nations at Ernée, in 2023, the Norwegian team was disqualified for using non-compliant fuel.
Norway’s history at the Motocross of Nations has otherwise been relatively quiet. The team has just one top-10 finish in the event’s history — a 10th-place finish in Austria in 1993. Ernée 2026 will therefore provide an opportunity to improve on that record, which has stood for more than three decades.
