Shane McElrath has announced he is leaving Quadlock Honda as the American seeks pastures new after great success on the team that includes both an Australian SX2 title and WSX SX2 title plus a 450 podium.
An appreciative McElrath, who has been rumoured to be going to Beta, said: “I want to give a massive thank you to @quadlockhonda for the amazing support over the last 2 years. This relationship began at a moments notice in September of 2024 (I actually turned it down straightaway without even thinking about it, it was a pretty funny story) and shortly after we went on to win the Australian SX2 championship, as well as the World Supercross SX2 championship. We continued our success into the 2025 SX season where I was able to get my first heat race win and podium in the 450 class. We continued to learn and grow through SX 2026 and we remained competitive and finished the season strong and healthy.
“It’s been an amazing run with these guys and they have worked hard to provide me with an opportunity to perform and to continue to improve throughout my time here. @yarrivek was always up front and honest about trying to set me up for a better opportunity, and when one showed up, he stuck to his word and was willing to work with me to make it happen. We met so many amazing people, most of them Australian, and many from around the world, and we built longterm relationships that I will cherish forever. See you guys again 🤗👊🏼”
