The future of Dutch talent Jens Walvoort has been one of the quieter stories recently, but signs are pointing towards another season racing the MX2 World Championship in 2026. After a frustrating start to the 2025 campaign, where injury ruled him out of the first half of the championship, Walvoort made a late-season comeback and showed his potential.

Walvoort’s return to racing last year was encouraging. Despite missing several rounds, he quickly found his rhythm, showing flashes of speed. He can be a strong rider in the MX2 class when fully fit and he’ll be hoping to remain fully healthy in 2026.

We believe that Walvoort will continue with a structure similar to last season. In 2025, the SB and BT Racing teams joined forces under the BTS Racing banner, and for 2026, the operation will compete under the SB KTM name, with Sofian Benallouch at the helm. This continuity could be a significant advantage for Walvoort.

At this stage, it is understood that Walvoort is quietly preparing for the season and is expected to contest all 20 rounds of the MX2 World Championship, kicking off in Argentina. While it remains unclear which pre-season races he might participate in as part of his warm-up programme.

The SB KTM team may also look to expand its presence in Europe, with plans to sign a young rider for the EMX125 series but it is still to be confirmed. This move would further strengthen the team’s long-term strategy, providing a platform to nurture emerging talent alongside an established rider like Walvoort.

As soon as official announcements are made regarding both Walvoort and the potential EMX125 rider, we will bring you the news.
