Yamaha Motor Europe extends its heartfelt appreciation to Rick Elzinga as his journey with the Yamaha family concludes following the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship season. With his contract reaching its natural end, the 23-year-old Dutch talent will now shift his focus to new opportunities in the premier class, MXGP.
Elzinga’s progression up the Yamaha Racing pyramid has been impressive. Beginning his chapter in blue on a GYTR-kitted YZ125, he quickly made waves in the EMX125 category with many memorable podium performances. His rapid ascent continued in 2022 when he dominated the EMX250 Championship aboard a GYTR-kitted YZ250F, clinching the title with four round wins and five moto victories. This success earned him a seat on the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team in 2023.
Over three seasons in MX2, Elzinga secured two podium finishes and was a regular top five contender. Now, having reached the age limit for MX2, Elzinga now sets his sights on the pinnacle of the FIM Motocross World Championship, MXGP.
Yamaha Motor Europe extends sincere thanks to Rick for his professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the Yamaha Family over the years.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Rick and support his growth over the years. From his early success as a super talented youngster on a GYTR-kitted YZ125 in EMX125 to his EMX250 Championship-winning season with us in 2022 – where he delivered multiple race wins, round victories, and podiums – his talent and determination is unquestionable. While his MX2 journey had its challenges, he showed his potential on countless occasions, including his two podium finishes in 2024. With that said, we’re proud of everything Rick has achieved and wish him all the best in the future.”
