Haiden Deegan was typically outspoken after his win at A2 – his first of the season and first win at Anaheim as he finally delivered the ride many expected, but as usual, it wasn’t without drama after he left Beaumer on the deck in the heat race!

Deegan said he didn’t feel pressure, just that he just had to win: “No pressure, just straight war mode,” said Deegan. “I am blocking out everything, I need to win. Me and Christian (Craig), we put in way too much work to be third place, that not happening, we were ready.”

He (Beaumer) has the red plate so I am going to ride like he has the red plate. It’s good racing, it’s supercross, honestly, the pass I did on him was a clean pass, he just kind of got a little stuck on the berm, it’s supercross, we are having some fun. I am sure Ju-Ju is having fun too, in the main even he ran it in a little as well and looked over at each other on the double – it’s fun. But I want to be first at the end of the race.

Ju-Ju said in response: “Same as him, it’s fun, we are having fun, no hard feelings, we are racing dirt bikes and we are here to win. If we are going to race like that every weekend, we are going to race like that. I went for an early pass second turn and didn’t make it stick and he got away a little bit and he was the better guy.”

On the improvement this weekend Deegan said: “I just did a lot of work this week and that’s what it comes down to, if you want to get good at something you have to nail it a lot of times. I was just grinding the starts and grinding the bike set-up because I was having to do these races at 70% with my arms pumped up. Now I can do it at 70% with my oxygen there and my arms feeling great, today was an absolute movie. Pretty much got to the lead and I could just ride my race at pretty much 70-80% and I feel like I could have gone another hour if I wanted too. Feeling good.”

On his podium interview a fired up Haiden said: “You pissed off the bull last week. Juju ran his mouth so it’s time to lock in. You don’t want to piss me off because I come out swinging. A big thanks to my team, they put a lot of work in this week. We grinded from morning until the end of the day, multiple times. We got the bike dialed… keep talking and I’ll come out swinging.”

So, in the press conference he was asked why and if he likes rivalries! “I always love a rivalry, It was just things I seen on the internet, people clipping their podcasts. Who knows if he said that because I don’t really watch your videos, but if he did then cool, because now I am mad and I want to win. I kind of use that stuff as a little motivated to get fired up for the next week’s. Ju-Ju is riding good though, he is being consistent so we got to get our stride back and keep chopping at the points lead.”
