Klemen Gercar retires from the sport

Klemen Gercar has had many years contesting in the MXGP paddock and recently even started his own team, Sixtytwo Motosport Husqvarna.

The Slovenian has confirmed that he’s now made the tough decision from the sport to focus on the team that’ll remain in the MXGP paddock which is good news.

“Sunday contesting in the Slovenian championship was my last race. I guess we have to listen to our inside voice when it comes to important decisions. It’s also nice for a sportsman to finish his career healthy and still be able to ride among the best 20 riders in the world and leading a national championship”, Gercar stated.

“Team SIXTYTWO motosport Husqvarna has grown faster that I could imagine so it needs a full time manager for 2020. That will be my focus for the future as I believe we can help young and talented riders to reach their potential. The plan is to have a 3 rider line up for MXGP, MX2 and/or EMX250 races. We are very close to signing the contracts with the riders. Of course we will continue to support our 85cc rider Jaka Peklaj as we have long term plan with him as one of the most promising riders of his age”.

“I want to thank my family to support me in early stages of my career, sponsors , MXGP, to amazing fans over years and to all people who helped me to achieve my goals. As I started racing 24 years ago (I have 28 right now), MX has been my life so I will be also involved in this sport in the future”, Gercar told GateDrop.com
