It hasn’t been the usual Cooper Webb in the last few weeks and now we know why, with Webb admitting to a thumb injury sustained back in Birmingham!
Webb even had to take his hand off the bars as he crossed the line – still taking the series to the last round, gutting out a fifth. But he knows, barring a miracle, the title shot is probably over.
An in pain and gutted Webb said: “It’s not great, I have a thumb injury and tore my ucl, and we tore it worse last weekend. It’s frustrating when you can’t perform, it’s a bummer. It’s 17 rounds and you have to stay healthy and I didn’t do that. It’s a dagger, try to keep my head up, it sucks.”
Webb then added on social media: “Denver P5 I’ve obviously struggled these past few rounds, so I’ll be transparent. I did tear my UCL in my thumb during the heat race crash in Birmingham. I had been able to manage it pretty well until I re aggravated it recently. Sometimes it’s just the way she goes. With that said, it’s never over until it’s over. I’ll see everyone in SLC.”
