Video: Jett Lawrence passing Tomac

njoy the generational duels while they last! Jett Lawrence had to pass Eli Tomac on his way through the field after a terrible start left Lawrence outside the top fifteen, and, when Tomac slid out on lap one, he still remounted just ahead of the Aussie and flying duo flew through the field but it was Jett who eventually found his way past the Yamaha star before pulling away but only after Tomac almost went into the side of Lawrence when Jett turned down early to pass a back marker in a berm.

Ultimately it was Tomac who got held up and Jett who sped on with Tomac losing touch with the deceptively fast but smooth Australian, almost passing Anderson for fourth at the finish.

It left Jett now tied on points with race winner Cooper Webb at the top of the standings and the Aussie was not happy with the situation, saying after: “I got a good jump but on that dirt it is very easy to spin. Starting at the back doesn’t give me the best start at winning. It’s a bummer, I could see I was catching those guys, it’s just a shame when you’re trying to battle for fifth and sixth and that stuff. We are going to go to the next round, work on starts obviously and actually show I’m meant to be up there.”
