Tom Vialle lost his points lead after getting stuck in the mud at Foxborough but he still thought he finished 12th after ghost riding his bike across the line…only to be told he was 22nd and no points!
It means Vialle is going into tonight’s East/West shootout sharing the red plate with Seth Hammaker with RJ Hampshire only two points behind and Chance Hymas eight back with everything to play for and more rain predicted!
Vialle told Lewis Philllip: “I was in the rhythm lane before the finish jump and I saw my name on the big screen and I was P12 and I was like, ‘I am still 12th, I am still going to score some points.’ So I crossed the finish line, the bike flew over the finish line – I lost control of the bike. But I was in P12 so I thought that’s great for me. The I went back to the truck and the team told me, no you finished last, P22! I still can’t believe I finished last, I was P5 with a lap and a half to go, I can’t believe 21 riders passed me in a lap, it’s insane for me, I couldn’t believe it. We look ahead, I had a good week of training, we have four races to go so we are going to give everything we have.”
