After missing the first two rounds of the MXGP World Championship, Isak Gifting has provided an update on his injury – sadly he had to undergo surgery on his shoulder after dislocating it – more than once.
The Swede will be off the bike for a couple of months – but he hopes to return for the second half of the MXGP World Championship season.
Gifting posted the following update on social media:
Update, unfortunately I have had to undergo surgery on my shoulder recently due to dislocating it a couple times. I tried to keep going after a crash this pre-season but it didn’t hold up. My recovery will be a few months and I’m expecting to be back for the other half of the season.
It’s a real disappointment since preparation has been going very well. My team JK Racing MX Official and Yamaha Racing has put a lot of effort into this season, I’m very grateful for them having my back.
Thanks to Anders Svensson, Thomas Tyszkiewics and Sorian Jumatate for the best and quickest possible surgery in Sweden. Making sure I can get strong again!
I will miss my guys from IXS Moto, Hostettler AG, Christoph Gautschi and Peter Hostettler in Switzerland this weekend… See you soon.Â
Thanks to all my sponsors!
