Supercross results: Houston 3 – Webb wins!

Cooper Webb passed Ken Roczen on the very last lap with a little help from Dean Wilson after Ken Roczen led the entire race and looked to have the win in the bag!

Webb had taken the initial lead but Roczen passed him quickly and pulled out a small gap with Webb and Cianciarulo in tow. Justin Barcia then worked his way into fourth and joined the lead train until he went down in the sand!

Barcia lost a spot to Tomac but was able to pass the defending champion back and from there all the drama was for the win!

Roczem pulled out to three second lead with about five minutes to go but Webb refused to give in and started to claw his way back. As they entered the last lap Roczen still had over a second but then Dean Wilson refused to move out of the main line in a tight right handed and Roczen got held up leaving Webb right on his back wheel! Ever the opportunist, Webb made the pass when Roczen went wide in the next turn to pass Wilson and the Red Bull KTM rider took his first win of the season!

After the race Roczen stood, arms aloft, yelling at Wilson as he rode by, the German incredulous at Wilson’s refusal to move over.

“Part of me wants to punch a hole in the wall,” admitted a furious Roczen. “But been practice my patience, it is very, very frustrating,” with Roczen revealing he had been yelling at Wilson with the Scot saying he didn’t hear him!

Webb, it was a close race the whole time, Kenny really rode well, the track was really tricky, the lappers were really rough tonight,I hung in there. I pounced on that last lap and made it happen.

In the 250 class Colt Nicholls took the win after a battle with his teammate, Christian Craig. Nicholls shadowed Craig for most of the race and then out the move on his teammate only for Craig to pass him eight back! But after backmarkers held Craig up slightly, Nicholls made his move again and this time Craig had no answer as Nicholls pulled a two second gap in a lap to take a deserved win.

Nicholls said: “I was trying to be patient, it felt like another day at Yamaha in California, I knew where he wa s faster so I tried to go pick up a few lines, that was fun!”

Jett Lawrence came from a bad start to take third but he took down Michael Mosiman to do it in a hard move and Mosiman will probably be seeking some retribution down the line!
