Steve Dixon comments on the British Championship MX2 second moto red flag at Lyng

The second MX2 moto at round two of the series at Lyng was red flagged and it badly cost Jack Chambers who was making his British Championship debut on the DRT Kawasaki.

The American had opened up a nice lead at the front but when the race was red flagged they went back a lap giving the race win to Bobby Bruce and Isak Gifting the overall win. If Chambers went on to win the race he’d have got the overall victory instead.

Perhaps instead of waiting for half distance in the moto it would have been better red flagging the race as soon as the track fencing fell apart so at least there would have been a full rerun of the race instead.

Nevertheless, it was still a positive day for Chambers on his DRT Kawasaki – it’ll be interesting to see if he rides anymore rounds of the British Championship.

Steve Dixon posted the following message on social media:

“Talk about farcical, waiting for half distance in the race as the track fencing fell apart so go back 3 and a half minutes to give the win result to the 3rd place guy who was 17 seconds behind. Looks like the British scene has improved its safety standards, not! Waving yellows for over a lap until the half distance was run then boom red flag, why they couldn’t put 2 marshals and funnel the riders I do not know, well Jack Chambers you can take the moral victory”, Dixon stated on social media.

UPDATE: It now looks like Chambers has been given the win after an error was made. More here.
