Jett Lawrence homecoming did not go to plan! The 450 US supercross champ won superpole in Mebourne at thee AusXOpen, but that would be his only win all night at his home event!
Lawrence had a bad start in race one, getting back to second but Webb was long gone out front, then, in race two, things got worse with Jett getting cut off by Webb at the start then crashing on lap one! Jett’s bike got landed on and consequently damaged meaning he had to not only pull out of race two but couldn’t line up for race three!
Jett said: “Thankfully I am 100% – I am still a little startled about it! I doubled in and went a little left because I didn’t want to hit Tanti. The ground isd slick and I didn’t learn my lesson and washed the front. Thankfully we got out of it unscathed but a couple of guys landed on my bike and my bike is all mangled up so sadly I am not riding.
And Jett was blown away by the home crowd support – something the boys never get to experience in the US or Europe. “The fans are unreal, I get chills every time they cheer. Honestly man, I haven’t had anything like this before, to have a whole stadium cheering for you, it gave me goosebumps. Ask my brother Hunter, it’s been the best thing, out of all out championships, the feeling we got from that is way better.”
