After a difficult start to the 2026 MXGP World Championship season that ultimately led to his split with Ducati, Jeremy Seewer could be set for a return to Grand Prix racing sooner rather than later.
The experienced Swiss rider has been keeping busy away from the paddock and has used the time to evaluate his options for the future. We understand that Seewer has tested machinery from at least three manufacturers in recent weeks, including Suzuki, Honda and KTM, as he works towards securing a route back into the MXGP World Championship.
Seewer’s departure from Ducati brought an end to an incredible streak of 229 consecutive Grand Prix starts across the MX2 and MXGP World Championships, underlining both his consistency and longevity at the highest level of the sport.
However, it appears his absence from the paddock may not last much longer. We believe that Seewer is currently spending time on KTM machinery and that a deal is being worked on for him to join the Van Venrooy KTM squad for the remainder of the 2026 MXGP World Championship season. It is believed the Swiss rider could also receive a degree of support from the KTM factory.
Should everything progress as expected, Seewer’s debut under the Van Venrooy KTM awning could come as early as the MXGP of Great Britain at the old-school Foxhill circuit.
A return to racing would undoubtedly be welcomed by fans and paddock insiders alike. Despite the frustrations of the opening part of the season, Seewer remains one of the most talented riders in the MXGP class and, with a package that suits him, few would be surprised to see a smiling and motivated Seewer quickly re-establish himself at the sharp end of the field.
If the deal goes ahead Seewer would join Rick Elzinga (MXGP), Noel Zanocz (MX2) and Áron Katona (EMX250) under the Van Venrooy KTM awning.
As always with rider market speculation, nothing has been officially confirmed by Seewer, Van Venrooy KTM or KTM at this stage.
