The 2024 season was quite the experience for Gavin Towers and probably not one that he’d have expected at the start of the year.

The young American started the season with the Star Yamaha amateur setup in America contesting the Supercross futures series in which he was a consistent top three rider. After that series though, he parted ways with the Star Yamaha team and that’s when there was a big change in his career.

The VRT Yamaha team who focus on the EMX250 championship were hit with a season ending injury to the impressive Janis Reisulis which saw them look to America for a fill in rider. Towers had an offer to come and race the EMX250 series, credit to him for taking the offer.

The American had some good top five rides in the EMX250 championship and despite missing five rounds of the series managed to finish fourteenth in the championship. Towers also had the opportunity to race a couple of MX2 World Championship events which is always good for the experience.

We understand that Towers won’t be coming back to race in Europe next year but instead be racing as a professional in America after securing a ride. We believe that Phoenix Racing Honda team have spotted the potential in Towers and will sign him up for the 2025 season.

After many years on Yamaha machinery, Towers will change manufacturer to Honda but it’ll be a fresh start for him to race back home in America.

It’ll be a big opportunity for Towers for his first full pro 250 Supercross season and he’ll be looking to impress.
