Jeremy Seewer won his first race of the year and did it in style! The Swiss rider took the holeshot only to get passed by Prado but Seewer bided his time and re-passed Seewer a few laps later and went on to win by over ten seconds! Prado fell into the clutches of Febvre and did all he could to hold him off as Herlings, back in fourth and off the pace of the leaders in the first half of the moto, found his groove and caught the pair of them.

Febvre was the first victim before Herlings blasted past Prado around the outside of a downhill of camber to go second and make points in the championship. But Febvre wasn’t done and he passed Prado who was in amongst the backmarkers to take third and even hard Herlings in his sights on the last lap but third was as much as he could do at the flag.

Alberto Forato had a mammoth get-off while running sixth but fortunately was ablet o get up and ride back to the pits.

But the big story was Jeffrey Herlings who was sixth with the top 5 on sight when his goggle strap broke only a couple laps into the race! Herlings came into (or at least stopped at) the goggles lane for a new pair before charging back out into the race.

By this stage he was out of the top 20 and just as he was back into the points, Herlings was touring and pulled into the pits and out if the race – his footpeg was broken! Only Jeffrey Herlings could have a broken goggle strap and a broken footpeg in one race – unbelievable.

Jorge Prado was running the pace with Seewer and Febvre but smartly settled for third after the halfway point for third overall and a 24 point lead in the world championship!

Seewer: “Too long way too long. It almost feels unreal from where I came with the crashes. Romain was fast that moto, I knew I had the overall I was thinking smart. Things are rolling now finally, lucky the season is still long.”
