Tom Vialle took the holeshot and, after navigating the ovewatered circuit in the opening couple of laps with care, began to stretch out his lead over the feuding de Wolf and Geerts as the Frenchman really found his groove to pull a 13 second lead at one point, de Wolf then crashed and handed Geerts second place but the Belgian has to find some more pace tomorrow to run with Vialle.
Benistant, Laegenfelder, Horgo and de Wolf were all on a good pace with the wide track allowing for different lines – it’s just a pity there aren’t more GP regulars out there on such a fantastic circuit! Stephen Rubini did ride practice but wasn’t on the gate when it came to the qualifying race and technical issues meant Mikkel Haarup missed most of the moto.
