Chase Sexton came out on top of a three way battle for the fastest lap in Detroit with his last lap just good enough, by 5 hundredths of a second, to drop Jason Anderson to second with Sexton, Anderson and Roczen in third all just two tenths apart. Sexton said they had cut the whoops down in size, an obstacle was was the most difficult in Q1, but it could mean more riders battling for the win tonight1.

Eli Tomac took fifth just ahead of Cooper Webb and look much better than last weekend in Indy.

Hunter Lawrence took the top time over the three Star Yamahas of Smith, Thrasher and Deegan with Anstie rounding out the top five.
