Home state rider, Malcolm Stewart, pipped Jason Anderson to the fastest time on his final flying lap to the delight of the crowd on a track that, with big ruts and a deep sand section, could be as much about survival and consistency than just raw speed across a 20 minute plus one lap main event later tonight, especially with the lap times so close.
Jett Lawrence was fastest by half a second in the 250 class, saying he only needed ten minutes on an outdoor track to find his groove for the uniqueness of Daytona.
