Race results: WMX RD3 – Duncan shines in Spain

Race One: The first race was all about Courtney Duncan as she dominated suiting the rutty and hard pack conditions. It was actually Nancy van de Ven who held the very early race lead but she crashed promoting Duncan to first and she never looked back. Kiara Fontanesi rode well to pass Valk and Guillen for second. Papenmeier had caught Canon for fifth when the Aussie then took a crash dropping her to eighth.

Lotte van Drunen didn’t look comfortable on the track and ended up seventh behind Martine Hughes.

Race Two: The second moto started in similar fashion to the opening moto with Nancy van de Ven leading on the first lap but Charli Canon took a good start in second and passed the Dutch talent to lead in WMX for the first time. Courtney Duncan rode a calculated race and made her moves to get into the lead and pull away to take an impressive overall win – she looks at home in those hard pack, slick and rutty conditions. Valk was on the move and riding great on her Fantic coming from seventh to second to secure second overall. Guillen passed Canon for third to secure the last step of the podium and keep her championship hopes alive but she is now ten points behind Duncan.
