Race One: Rain started to fall in Latvia which meant the MXGP riders had another wet track to deal with. Jorge Prado got the holeshot with Jeffrey Herlings coming out of the first corner in second – a good start right when he needed it.

Herlings was keen to get to the front and that is exactly what he done. Gajser also didn’t waste much time to get around Prado. The Slovenian then made a mistake which allowed Prado to close up on him but then the Spaniard crashed later that lap dropping him down to eighth.

Dutch duo, Glenn Coldenhoff and Brian Bogers were loving the track conditiosn finishing third and fourth – Fantic will be delighted with that. Kevin Horgmo also passed Corneluis Tondel to finish an impressive fifth.

It was looking like Prado would finish in eighth but after Tondel crashed – Prado then caught and passed him for seventh.

Race Two: The second moto was a great battle at the front. With conditions drier, they suited Prado more and he grabbed his usual holeshot. Herlings was second around the first corner but Gajser got aggressive around the second corner to pass the Dutch rider.

Prado and Gajser started to pull away at the front with Herlings in third as he again lost time in the first ten minutes but after that he started to catch again and then the first three were pretty much all the same pace around a very demanding track.

Prado rode superb under pressure and ended up taking the moto win but with Herlings finishing third it was good enough to win his first MXGP overall of the season.

Coldenhoff rode well for fourth but missed out on the overall podium but Fantic can be happy with two riders in the top five as Bogers ended up fifth overall.

It was a good weekend for Gajser in terms of the championship as he gets the red plate and championship lead back again – he has 4 points over Prado as the pair continue to swap the red plate around!
