Race results: MXGP World Championship RD16 – Arco 3

Race One:

We are running out of words to describe this MXGP season – it’s relentless! Jeremy Seewer had the race of his life as the MXGP title contenders went at it with Jorge Prado right in the mix.

Romain Febvre clearly very comfortable in the very slick conditions was the man on the move after passing Gajser and Prado – the French talent then started to close on Seewer who crashed himself but still picked it up in first.

With a lap to go Febvre got the gap down to just over two seconds and went for a qualifying lap and binned it on the final lap! He was so far ahead of Herlings who got held up by Prado to still come home in second – what a race and what a championship!

Gajser will be the most disappointed after getting passed by both Herlings and Febvre – he needs to respond in race two.

While all that was going on Dylan Wright had a superb race to finish ninth and made some nice passes as well.

Romain Febvre now has the championship lead going into the second moto – no doubt there will be even more drama!

Race Two:

The second moto didn’t disappoint! As usual, Jorge Prado took the holeshot but Tim Gajser was aggressive and made a move on the opening lap to pull into the distance. Romain Febvre got the worse start out of all the MXGP title contenders but made plenty of passes on the first lap to get himself right behind Jeffrey Herlings – it was on!

It all then went wrong for Herlings not crashing once but twice and found himself tenth – it took him a couple of laps to find his rhythm again but he ended up getting back to fourth passing Cairoli on the final lap.

Whilst all that was going on Jeremy Seewer rode brilliant to come home in second to take the overall win – what a ride! Gajser also had the perfect response after a disappointing first moto so will be happy with how he ended the day.
