Race results: MXGP World Championship RD15 – Seewer shines in Sweden

The opening MXGP race was all about the Factory Yamaha’s as all three of Maxime Renaux, Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff rode brilliant at the head of the field. Despite having pressure from behind, Renaux stayed cool and rode a superb race to take an impressive win ahead of Seewer and Coldenhoff.

Gajser was with the Yamaha riders until he appeared to settle for fourth. Valentin Guillod was having a superb ride in sixth before Romain Febvre passed him on the final lap – the Swiss rider then tried to respond but ran off the track and lost a couple of positions to finish ninth.

Qualifying race winner, Mitch Evans didn’t get a good start and then crashed on the opening lap – he came from dead last to tenth despite the track being difficult to overtake on.

The second moto didn’t go quite as well for Factory Yamaha as Maxime Renaux got a bad start and then crashed over one of the jumps and got ran over in what looked a nasty incident. However, the front was a close affair between Seewer, Gajser, Febvre and Evans as not much split them.
