Race results: MX2 World Championship RD3 – Switzerland – Benistant wins!

Race One: Roan Van de Moosdijk took an emotional opening moto win after Jago Geerts, crashed out of the lead despite having a six second lead and just three minutes and two laps to go! It was a big off and Geerts could only finish seventh despite getting up in third to give the rest hope in the world championship.

Kay de Wolf took second with some aggressive but fair moves to make it a Husqvarna 1-2 and ignute his charge for the title by making the most of Geerts mistake, Adamo was fast all moto for third with Benistant also crashing his Yamaha but still taking fourth. Laegenfelder was fifth but Coenen might have had the ride of the moto coming from off the track and last in turn one all the way to sixth including a pass on Geerts at the end!

Race Two: Thibault Benistant took the race win and the overall victory as Jago Geerts crashed again while pressuring Benistant for the lead! Andrea Adamo rode great for second as Geerts picked himself up to take third and held off a charging de Wolf who overcame a back start to get back to fourth with a last lap pass on Laengenfelder who took fifth, all five setting a hot pace with Everts up there too in sixth. First moto winner, Roan Van de Moosdijk, came from 20th to eighth but it wasn’t enough for the podium.

Benistant, who is now 20 points behind Geerts and up to second in the championship, said: “First race win of the season and overall. I was feeling good this moto but the first race I was quite tight, a bit of arm pump. All this second moto I had pressure from my teammate until he made a mistake.”
