Race results: MX2 World Championship RD13 – Spain

Race One:

Tom Vialle and Maxime Renaux showed the class they have in the opening MX2 moto in Spain – the pair were close until the half way distance before Vialle checked out to secure yet another win. Mattia Guadagnini crashed in free practice this morning and didn’t have a good gate selection but was still able to get a good start and came home in a lonely third.

Rene Hofer and Kay de Wolf didn’t get the best of starts but both made several passes to finish in fifth and sixth respectively. The Spanish fans were well behind Ruben Fernandez who was buried on lap one but he came back through to seventh and edged out Isak Gifting who had a good race to finish eighth.

Jago Geerts suffered from two crashes to finish thirteenth behind Conrad Mewse.

Race Two:

It was a very intense MX2 second race with Maxime Renaux, Jago Geerts and Tom Vialle going at it – they were running a very high pace at the front. It was Geerts who held the early lead but Renaux made a move on lap thirteen and Geerts then came under pressure from Vialle who crashed trying to overtake the Belgian.

With the pressure off Geerts he then pushed and tried to retake Renaux for the win but he just ran out of time – it was a great race and nice to see Geerts show his true level once again after a difficult season (for his standards). With Renaux taking the second moto win he also took the overall.

Jed Beaton ended up going third overall in what was a solid day for the Aussie.
