Race results: EMX250 RD5 – Valin wins at Teutschenthal

Race One: Valerio Lata took a good start and rode really well controlling things at the front of the field. Karlis Reisulis was riding well on his VRT Yamaha in second before a fast Maxime Grau caught and passed with in the closing stages.

Grau was pushing on his WZ KTM and even caught Lata for the lead but the Italian did enough. Mathis Valin had passed Valk for third at the start but then crashed and dropped behind the Dutch rider again to end up fifth.

It started to rain towards the end and track conditions changed quickly. American debutant, Gavin Towers got a good start and ended up a strong sixth on his first EMX250 first race. Ivano van Erp was buried on lap one in around twenty-eighth but had a superb race coming through to seventh despite it being very hard to pass.

Race Two: It was American debutant, Gavin Towers who took the holeshot on his VRT Yamaha before he lost the front costing him a couple of positions. It allowed Valin to get to the front before Lata passed his championship contender before passing him and pulling away at the front.

Grau was battling with Valin for second before he lost the front on a very difficult and challenging circuit but he was able to get himself back to fifth to save a podium.

Valk didn’t get a good start but recovered to fourth position behind Towers who impressed on his debut for fourth overall. Nico Greutmann had a great ride for a solid sixth.

There was a wait for the podium as a penalty was handed out to Valerio Lata who thought he had the perfect weekend. He got docked ten positions for jumping on a waved yellow flag not only costing him a win but also a podium!

It allowed Cas Valk to take the third step of the podium with Valin taking the overall win and extending his points lead.
