Despite conditions being so tough and difficult to ride it was a brilliant MXGP qualifying race! All the heavy hitters were there the first couple of corners but it was Tim Gajser who showed his aggression to lead after lap one. Jeffrey Herlings passed Jorge Prado to position himself in second after a good start. It also didn’t take Romain Febvre long to get into third position.

It wasn’t a good race for Jorge Prado who signalled to his GasGas crew he had goggle issues but he decided to stay out on the second lap and continued out on the track. The Spaniard did attempt to go into google lane but then couldn’t get across all the ruts and had to stay out on the track – he ended up seventh and will be looking for much more tomorrow.

At the front, Herlings started to catch and on the last lap was close to Gajser before a backmarker got in the way but he still tried to get into the lead but ran out of time. Herlings and Gajser were pushing hard and ended up nearly 30 seconds ahead of Febvre who had settled for third.

Despite Prado being unbeaten this year – he only has a seven points gap in the championship chase heading into race day tomorrow.
