Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM and Liam Owens will continue their partnership into the 2027 season, with both rider and team set to take on a new challenge together in the MX2 World Championship.
The 2027 season will mark a significant milestone for both Owens and Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM, as it will be the first time the Australian rider and the team will contest an MX2 World Championship campaign.
Owens first got his taste of the EMX250 Championship back in 2023 when he secured a fill-in opportunity with BUD Kawasaki. The experience gave the Australian an opportunity to showcase his potential in Europe and ultimately helped him secure a full-time ride with Cat Moto Bauerschmidt for the following season.
The team itself was also a new addition to the paddock in 2024, initially competing with Husqvarna machinery, and Owens has remained with the outfit ever since. The partnership has continued to develop over the past three seasons, with the Australian finding a home in Europe and enjoying success in the highly competitive EMX250 series, including podium finishes.
Now, both rider and team are ready to take the next step.
For Owens, competing in the MX2 World Championship has been a goal ever since he made the move to Europe. After several seasons gaining experience in the EMX250 Championship, the 2027 campaign will finally see him step up to the world stage on a full-time basis.
Importantly, Owens will make that transition with a team and setup that he already knows well, giving him the opportunity to focus on adapting to the increased level of competition. With Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM also making their MX2 World Championship debut, 2027 promises to be an exciting and important season for both sides as they look to establish themselves on the world stage.
The new chapter is now officially confirmed, with Owens and Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM set to go racing together in MX2 in 2027.
