An emotional Brent Duffe looked back on his time with Haiden Deegan as his last day at the practice track for Deegan ended ahead of his last race for Deegan as a mechanic with Duffe admitting he would really like to go out with a win – which will only add to Deegan’s motivation to do whatever it takes to win the title!
Duffe, who has been with Haiden since just before he went pro as well as Christian Craigand Justin Brayton before that said: “Today wraps up a lot. Wraps up our final day of SMX training before we head off to Branson. We did change some stuff on the bike and significant stuff, because this weekend looks like a real hybrid of motocross and supercross, So tried a few things just so that when we get to the race, depending on what the track really is like, We’ve got a couple options in our back pocket. You know anything can happen this weekend. So even though it’s 16 points difference. We’ve been to SMX for multiple years. We know anything can happen. It’s the final round triple points. So we are ready, to at least go out with a win, a championship would be awesome.”
An emotional Duffe added about his time with Deegan; “Today also wraps up my final practice day I’ve been on this team for five years. I was in Charlotte for six years, moved down here like not really sure what to do when Justin Brayton retired. It’s cool….I moved to Florida and work with Star. They just moved here and I spent that year with Christian, jumped on with Haiden as an amateur and we went from like Mini O’s titles to 250 championships six of them up to the 450 class. He got me my first 450 win unreal, I would love to stay…I love this sport. I rehearsed this speech 20 times and it’s still different when you actually do it.
“I’m just stoked to have spent so long in a sport, accomplished so much, been all around the world, love it man, pumped to be a part of this pump of this to live the life that I always dreamed of. I never thought I’d leave a legacy, right? I’m just a kid from Iowa, I just wanted to race their bikes ended up being a mechanic and got to be with some of the best guys in the world. I’m not stepping away forever. I’ll also show up. I’ll be in a video or two here and there. Thanks for everything guys.”
