MX2 race results: Spanish MX Championship RD1 – Talavera

In the opening moto it was Mikkel Haarup who grabbed the holeshot on his new Triumph machine but he had Lucas Coenen for company. It didn’t take the Belgian that long to make a move but then as he was just pulling away he made a costly mistake.

Coenen was able to catch and pass Haarup again with the Dane keeping the gap respectable – around four seconds until a mistake saw him lose a lot of ground. Gerard Congost rode well for third with Camden McLellan coming from outside the top ten to fourth.

It was the perfect day for Lucas Coenen as he dominated the second moto to go 1-1 on his Nestaan Husqvarna.

Haarup had another solid ride for second with Camden McLellan improving to come home in third – it was even to put both Triumph’s on the podium in their Motocross debut!
