MX2 race results: International Italian Championship RD2 – Riola

Drama on the last lap – Simon Längenfelder who held the lead after passing Nicholas Lapucci in the early stages was looking strong to take the win before a back marker crashed leaving the German nowhere to go and hitting the deck. It meant that Cornelius Tøndel who was second was gifted the race win – the EMX250 rider will be happy to beat the GP men on a gnarly sand track.
The Norwegian was actually riding really well in third earlier in the race and was closing on both Adamo and Längenfelder which was looking like an exciting three way battle for the lead. However, Tøndel put in an aggressive move on Adamo which saw them both go down which allowed Längenfelder to break away at the front. After the last lap drama though it didn’t cost Tøndel the win on his two-stroke Fantic.
Perhaps the most impressive ride was from Håkon Østerhagen as he came home a superb third as he prepares for his rookie season in the EMX250 championship. Two Norwegians in the top three is also worth pointing out!
