It was an astonishing time in MX2 GPs in 2009. Cairoli, Searle and Rattray had moved on and a new set of young talent rose to the occasion with Marvin Musquin coming from relative obscurity in MX2 (albeit hotly tipped for supercross) to win a GP and lead the championship on his privateer Honda, only to move to KTM for the British GP at Mallery Park!
I remember this being a huge and pretty confusing situation the time and then going to the race in the UK to see Marvin make his KTM debut – and then win the race!
But things took a turn for the worse when his old team sued for breach of contract and Marvin had to sit out a GP then still won the title!
