Musquin: I’m going to get better

Marvin Musquin was very, very pleased with a brilliant third place finish in his first supercross race since 2019 and vowed he will get even better with more race time under his belt!

“It’s huge,” admitted Musquin on his superb ride in the opener. “To be honest practice went pretty good, qualified third that was awesome, the times were so close the top 15 were within a second. I knew the start was going to be key and the heat race was pretty rough, I was not feeling comfortable, it felt completely different than practice. I was a little bit mad, I ended up crashing and qualified eighth out of the heat.

“Then you go on the starting line with a bad gate pick, thinking it’s going to be tough one but actually I had a gate by the box and ended up have a great start. I was up front and got passed right away, I was third or fourth, then I got to settle down and passed Brayton back and Adam back for third. I was super-pumped on my riding, I just wanted to be smooth and be consistent for the rest of the main. I knew the two guys up front, they were gone. I rode my own race, it was just amazing for a comeback and first race, unbelievable.

The Frenchman did admit he was nervous beforehand to see where he stood after the time off but feels that from now one he will only get better. “To be honest I was a little bit nervous. I feel like supercross, you have to be very precise and I feel like you race closer to the other guys than outdoors. But I was super excited to get out there and get the first one done.

I’m going to get better with more racing, fitness wise, confidence wise, everything, so I am excited to go racing very soon on Tuesday. Missing a whole year is weird but when I got out there bit it didn’t feel too new, it’s just the fitness and intensity that needs to come back so that’s why racing multiple times in a week will be good.”
