In the open qualifying race, Jeffrey Herlings came from way back to pass Henry Jacobi to take the victory. Arminas Jasikonis who has very bad memories from the track after last year rode really well after a bad start to get back up to third but more importantly he helped Lithuania qualify for the main event.
Stuart Edmonds was running in the top ten before coming home in sixteenth – Ireland will go to the B final after finishing twenty-first in qualifying.
The Netherlands ended the qualifying on top ahead of the impressive France and Italy.
