Jett Lawrence spoke to Jason Weigandt on the Ironman broadcast during intermission on being back on the bike and the race to be fit for SMX.
“It’s been awesome being back on the bike,” said Lawrence. “We had to start on the rut track for a few days, felt great, then went to the outdoor track…and I didn’t realise how hard dirt bikes actually are!
“We are getting there, trying to get the balance, my head and my eye speed are two different levels right now! I’m thinking of what I need to do and my eyes and everything is coming fast. I’m glad to be back on the bike and be back on a schedule again. And the ride the 2025 Honda, it’s been awesome, I’m going to do some testing next week and hopefully we come into SMX going crazy!
“Would I like more time before SMX? Of course I would, everyone wants more time but we got dealt with the six weeks and thankfully after six weeks we were back on the bike. Surprisingly, it wasn’t painful at all. We did a lot of therapy those first two weeks, spent a lot of time out in California with Doc G, and getting that full range of motion back and it cut the healing down a lot.
“We have two weeks until SMX. This week was my first week back on the outdoor track so we are looking forward to it. Makes it exciting for me, back to getting that adrenalin on race day.”
