There has been an update regarding the Irish sending a team to the MXoN 2025 event in Ironman after all.

Whilst a final decision has yet to be made the commission is interested in parties who can supply a credible financial and management plan – that could see them reconsider and send a team to the event.

You can read the press release below:

The Commission wants to make it clear that the Commission fully supports sending international‬‭ teams away to represent our sport on the international stage. In fact, the plan for 2025 was to‬ send an adult team to the European Motocross of Nations which was due to be held in France‬ this year.‬

‭It was envisaged that the finances would be available to send a team to that event.‬ Unfortunately, the European MXON was cancelled by the FIM for 2025.‬ Due to the projected costs for sending a team to the USA, it was decided to concentrate on an‬ adult 2026 team and continue with the development of youth riders in both the Youth MX FIM‬ World championship and also to the Coupe de l’Avenir.‬

After representations by different individuals to the Chairman since last week’s press release, a‬ meeting was convened on April 17 to discuss the possibility of sending a team to the 2025‬ Motocross of Nations in the USA.‬

It was agreed that if a credible financial and management plan was put forward, the‬ Commission would be agreeable to sending a team to the USA this year.‬

This plan would include a manager who, as in all previous years, would be responsible for the‬ raising of the finances to bring this team.‬

‭The Commission would like to make it clear that the management of Team Ireland requires an‬ individual who can present our team to the professional standard that has been set by previous‬ team managers. This absolutely precludes a manager from both managing and riding at the‬ event.‬

‭The Commission, as in all previous events, will have the final decision on the riders who will‬ represent Ireland.‬

The Commission asks all interested parties to put forward a plan on paper to the MCUI MX‬ Chairman by Friday May 2 next.

The Chairman will assemble all proposals and contact the‬ proposers to invite them to the next meeting on May 13 where the proposers can present their‬ plan to the Commission. A final decision on whether to send a team or not can then be made.‬

The Chairman and Treasurer will be available in the meantime to financial questions that a potential manager might have.
