Interview: Anton Gole on racing Southwick

Former MXGP regular, Anton Gole will add the international flavour in AMA motocross this weekend with the Swede making the trip over to race in the US Nationals starting this weekend at Southwick!

Doug Turney caught up with him on media day ahead of his US Motocross debut:

Can you give us a little bit of your background and racing in Europe?

Yeah, I have been racing MXGP for a couple of years now and I have done quite good results over there also in both MXGP and MX2 class. I have always dreamed of coming here and racing the Nationals and this year everything clicked and I didn’t do any GPs or stuff like that so it fit perfect the schedule and I thought I would do a couple of rounds over here.

And your career in Sweden?

Yeah, it’s been good, I have been Swedish National champion a couple of times and over there everything goes good and the competition is for sure not the same as here but I I think I can do good here. I have done a lot of sand riding and I normally like these type of tracks that you have in the United States. Hopefully it will be good racing.

And you have raced in the United States before…

Yeah, I did the Nations at Red Bud and I also did the US GP at WW Ranch so I am a little bit familiar with the country and stuff like that but never done the Nationals, so this is the first time.

Which races will you do here this year?

Southwick and then we will go to Spring Creek (Millville) next weekend and Washougal and then I will also do Budds Creek and Unadilla.

Any other racing this year?

Not really, I will do the rest of the Swedish championship and then I will do a big enduro race at the end of the season and then I will maybe get selected for the Nations and then I will also do that of course but, other than that, it’s just these races.
