Injury update: Mattia Guadagnini – another collarbone fracture

Mattia Guadagnini from the Van Venrooy KTM Team suffered another serious injury during a test day. The Italian rider crashed and fractured his collarbone on the same shoulder that has already caused him multiple injuries in the past.

According to Guadagnini, it is the same shoulder on which he has previously suffered six or seven injuries. Surgery will be required to repair the damage, meaning he will be sidelined for the foreseeable future and will likely miss most of the season.

Mattia Guadagnini:

“I crashed during a test day and broke my collarbone on my bad shoulder, the same shoulder where I’ve already had six or seven injuries. So the situation is far from ideal, and surgery will be needed to fix everything.

On one hand, it’s obviously very sad because I’ll be out for a while. We still need to determine exactly how long, but it will definitely take some time. I will probably miss most of the season.

This is actually the moment to finally let it heal properly, have the surgery, and take the time to come back fully fit again. I know I can show great things when I feel good, can train consistently, and build a solid foundation. That’s something I’ve missed over the past few years.

It’s difficult to keep coming back from injuries, but with the condition of my shoulder, it was really time to deal with it properly and take the time needed to return to my highest level.”
