It was not the weekend that Alberto Forato would have wanted at the opening round of the MXGP World Championship. The Italian was battling with illness all weekend which meant we didn’t see him at his best.
It was his first MXGP World Championship event with SR Honda and in the second moto he took a hard hit to the knee.
It doesn’t appear he has broken anything but he needs further tests when he gets back to Italy.
The following update was posted to social media:
After a very tough weekend, during the second moto, I lost the front end, and when putting my leg down, I took a hard hit to my knee.
X-rays show no broken bones, but I’m heading back to Italy for further checks.
