Germany name strong 2023 MXoN team – Roczen IN!

MXoN Team Germany for the 76th. Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations 7th And 8. October will take place in the French Ernée, it has been confirmed. The team bosses Marcel Dornhöfer and Karsten Schneider present a very striking team with Ken Roczen (MXGP), Simon Längenfelder (MX2) and Tom Koch (Open). Maximilian Spies has been appointed as a reserve rider.

It wasn’t an easy task for the team management, because the seven-rider squad for the 2023 Team World Championship was consistently high quality. But the DMSB nominated team bosses Marcel Dornhöfer and Karsten Schneider are confident that they have set up the best possible team for Ernée.

Especially happy is the return of superstar Ken Roczen to the German team, which gives everyone additional motivation. Schedule changes in Roczens race calendar have opened up the option of MXoN participation and all participating sides, including Ken’s American racing team H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki, have pulled together to make a start possible.

“I am super happy to be back at MXON for the German team after a long time. Feeling fit and healthy and determined to give it my all with my teammates. I haven’t done many MX races this year, but I’m good things we can get a good result with this strong team. You don’t learn how to drive MX so fast”, smiles Roczen, who will ride in the MXGP class with the starting number 22.

Like Roczen, Simon Längenfelder hopes for a top result in the MX2 class. Despite suffering an arm injury in the spring, the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing pilot raced back to race victories in the MX2 World Championship and was a safe choice for the team lineup.

“I am very happy to travel to Ernée with such a good team.” At the last MXoN the atmosphere there was gigantic and I can’t wait to start in front of such a backdrop. “I hope to have made a few more steps in development until then and I am happy to see Kenny driving in Europe,” Längenfelder says enthusiastically. He is driving in MX2 class with the start number 23.

Tom Koch has earned himself third place in the team thanks to constantly good performances and constant further development. After some top-ten finishings in the current World Cup season, the Kosak Racing Team rider is very motivated for the team race.

“I am very happy that I was selected for the German team for the second time in a row and for the third time in total. With such a strong team, it will be a new experience for me. I like the track in Ernée very much because it is so technically demanding. And at the Grand Prix the atmosphere there is already fantastic. MXoN will be the best, I expect goosebumps while riding,” says Koch, who starts with the start number 24 in the Open category.

Maximilian Spies will be used as a reserve rider. The 19-year-old rookie in the MXGP class has fully established himself on the 450cc machines and proved a lot of speed and fitness. He could be used in all three MXoN classes should one of the other team riders drop out. Spies will be with the team in Ernée, even if he is not travelling to gain important experience for future assignments.

There is also a portion of extra motivation to apply to the team managers. “It’s a dream for us to be able to travel to France with such a strong team.” Ken has been very motivated to take part in MXoN, Simon is a winner in MX2 class and Tom has established himself very well at the MXGP. That makes us very hopeful for a good result”, said Dornhöfer and Schneider.

The team is as follows:

MXGP: Ken Roczen

MX2: Simon Längenfelder

Open: Tom Koch
