Italian-based team, Millionaire Racing are planning to step up their international programme in 2027, with the team set to contest the full MXGP World Championship.
The team have focused primarily on the domestic Italian Championship in recent years, although they also made an appearance in the EMX Open series at Lommel this season with Nicholas Lapucci.
Lapucci impressed in the opening race at the Belgian circuit, finishing fourth in the deep sand despite not having raced in those conditions for a long time. Unfortunately, his weekend ended with a DNF in the second moto but the pace was good.
Now, Millionaire Racing Team are preparing for a much bigger international programme in 2027, with the Honda team planning to run two riders in the MXGP World Championship for the upcoming season.
One of those riders will be Lapucci, who brings plenty of experience to the project. The Italian has previously competed at the highest level and won the EMX250 Championship back in 2021. The team are still in negotiations regarding their second MXGP rider, but plans are firmly in place to have two riders competing in the premier class next season.
As well as their MXGP programme, the Millionaire Racing Team are also planning to compete in the EMX250 Championship, while they are also preparing to enter the Women’s WMX World Championship.
Speaking exclusively to GateDrop.com, team manager Michele Capriol confirmed the plans for what promises to be a busy 2027 season:
“I can confirm that our programme for the 2027 season includes competing in the MXGP World Championship with two riders. We are just finalizing the last details. The first rider is confirmed, while the choice of the second is still being determined. In addition to the two MXGP riders, we plan to field a rider in the EMX250 Championship and one in the WMX class. We are currently testing the bike before announcing the name,” Michele Capriol told GateDrop.com.
With two MXGP riders, an EMX250 entry and a rider in the WMX World Championship, 2027 is shaping up to be a significant step forward for Millionaire Racing Team.
It will be great to see the Italian outfit return to the MXGP paddock next season and take on a full international programme.
