There has been some rumours around the paddock that the Factory Fantic MXGP team would line up with three riders in the 2025 MXGP World Championship season so we asked team owner, Louis Vosters the question (full interview coming later in the week).
Vosters has confirmed the team will be sticking with two MXGP World Championship riders and not three.
“For next year we’re going to stick with two riders and it’s stable now, everything is organized and for now it’s better to stay with two”, Vosters told GateDrop.com.Â
With Glenn Coldenhoff initially signing a two year contract and Brian Bogers recently getting his contract extended for 2025, we already know their line up for next year and it’ll be unchanged.
“We are really happy that we can keep both riders for next year, but also the whole crew, all mechanics will stay, so it’s really stable now in the team and it’s a good feeling”, Vosters added.Â
The rider who has been linked with Fantic is Andrea Bonacorsi. The young Italian started the season contesting the MX2 World Championship but with Yamaha being hit with lots of injuries, the EMX250 champion got the call to make the step up to race MXGP.
Yamaha aren’t expected to make any changes to their MXGP rider line up for 2025 and now that Bonacorsi won’t be going to the Fantic MXGP team it looks like he’ll be on the move for the 2025 season.
We believe that Bonacorsi is an option for the Standing Construct Honda team alongside Mikkel Haarup but the team haven’t made a final decision yet and are also strongly considering keeping Alberto Forato. Pauls Jonass is expected to be on the move for the 2025 season.
Another option for Bonacorsi could be Ducati, they will sign up an Italian rider and whilst that is expected to be Mattia Guadagnini, now that Bonacorsi is available that is something they could explore.
It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for Bonacorsi who don’t forget is still only 21 years old and can still contest the MX2 World Championship. If he can’t land a good ride it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll consider his options for MX2 as well.
As always more news as and when we hear it.
